Brown hay does not mean bad or not fresh hay, hay is grown and dried outside in the summer months so the hot sun can bleach the hay. As the hay dries the hot sun can make it turn a more brown colour. Typically seen in 2nd Cut more than 1st Cut as first cut is cut and dried earlier in the summer so the sun is not as hot.
If you are outside our delivery areas (see delivery information page to see the areas we service) shipping is added to your order as it has to be sent through a shipping carrier. We keep our prices low and do not add shipping into the cost of our products so it is an added cost.
The $100 Free delivery only applies to the areas inside our local delivery zones, it is not applied to orders being shipped.

1st Cut is the hay taken off 1st off the field, cut and dried late spring to earlier in the summer. Typically a 1st cut has thicker stocks as well as seed heads that grow on the plant during the first growth of the season making a crunchier hay.
2nd Cut is taken off 2nd, cut and dried later in summer during the hotter months. 2nd Cut can have more sun exposure making it a darker colour. 2nd cut is a thinner softer hay and does not produce a seed head.
